We are seeking an experienced Steel Fixer to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting manufacturing drawings and assembling reinforcement cages by tying steel bars, mesh, and other steel components together to create the structure required for casting concrete. This role plays a crucial part in the production of high-quality precast concrete products.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately read and understand manufacturing and technical drawings to determine the layout and configuration of reinforcement steel.
  • Assemble and tie steel reinforcement bars (rebar), mesh, and other steel components according to specifications, ensuring correct positioning, spacing, and secure tying.
  • Build reinforcement cages using steel bars, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards for precast concrete casting.
  • Use appropriate tools and equipment such as steel cutters, bending machines, and tying wire effectively and safely.
  • Ensure all work meets the required tolerances, standards, and industry regulations, checking that the reinforcement is properly placed for the casting of concrete.
  • Adhere to company health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
  • Work closely with other team members, including production operatives and supervisors, to ensure production timelines are met and quality standards are maintained.
  • Identify any issues with reinforcement assembly and work with the team to resolve problems efficiently to avoid production delays.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Steel Fixer, preferably within a precast concrete or construction environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and precision to ensure reinforcement is assembled according to design specifications.
  • Ability to handle heavy materials and perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, lifting, and working in a factory environment.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with production teams.
  • Understanding of industry safety standards, tools, and methods used in steel fixing.
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment used for cutting, bending, and tying steel reinforcement.
