We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Waste Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting waste management operations, ensuring materials are sorted, handled, and disposed of safely and efficiently in line with company and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, and separate waste materials (general waste, recycling, hazardous waste where applicable)
- Load and unload waste containers or bins
- Operate waste compactors or baling machinery (where trained)
- Maintain cleanliness of waste and recycling areas
- Ensure waste is disposed of in line with company procedures and environmental guidelines
- Follow all health and safety regulations at all times
- Report any hazards, spillages, or maintenance issues
- Support site teams with general housekeeping duties
Requirements
- Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or a similar environment is beneficial but not essential
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible approach to working hours if required
